Super Easy Crock Pot Whole Chicken

For a fast and easy basic chicken crock pot recipe, you can’t beat this one.  It takes about 15 minutes to prepare.  Put it in your slow cooker in the morning and have an entire meal when you get home that night.

Super Easy Crock Pot Whole Chicken

1 Whole Chicken

1 Onion, chopped

5 Peeled, cubed carrots

6 peeled, quartered red potatoes

Chicken Broth

Salt and Pepper

Paprika

Pour about 1 inch of chicken broth in bottom of crock pot. Chop 1 onion and place in bottom of slow cooker.  Thoroughly wash whole chicken and remove neck, etc., from inside.  Place breast up in the crock pot.  Add carrots and potatoes.  Add a bit of salt and pepper.  Sprinkle paprika over chicken for color.

Cook on low 8+ hours or on high 4-6 hours.  Chicken will fall off of the bone so be careful when removing.  Strain and keep broth for later use or for making gravy.  Very simple recipe but makes really good chicken.  Left overs are great in chicken salad!
